The operation Harbin Kunama II which was launched by the Nigerian army about a week ago has started yielding the results.

The army said it has disarmed some herdsmen and recovered arms from them.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, while said this in Kaduna on Tuesday. He noted that `Operation Harbin Kunama ll, would be given more support to enable the troops to achieve set objectives.

“Of course, we have seen various recoveries from the troops, and we will ensure that those efforts of our troops are well supported so that we can achieve greater feat in the operation,” said the CDS.

He said the operation has adopted various approaches to address security issues in the area, including banditry and cattle rustling.

According to him, traditional, religious and political leaders are all involved in the efforts to restore peace in affected communities.

“On the military side, we have deployed our troops there to ensure the issues are brought under control,” Olanisakin added.

The defence chief, who was in Kaduna to inaugurate a 1,000-seat capacity auditorium at the Air Force Institute of Technology, commended the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar, for his vision and exemplary leadership.

He said the auditorium and the lecture hall would provide a conducive environment for learning while improving operations being carried out by the Air Force.
