Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has been given a five-star rating for his wonderful performance for Middlesbrough in their crunch clash against fellow promotion-chasers Leeds United on Saturday.

Mikel played all the ninety minutes as Middlesbrough were held to a 1-1 draw in the feisty Championship clash against the table toppers.

Boro Coach, Tony Pulis was delighted with his players' attitude against Leeds but admitted he was only frustrated that they allowed a priceless lead to slip.

Lewi Wing put Boro 1-0 up against Marcelo's Bielsa's side early in the second half, but the visitors grabbed a last gasp equaliser through Kalvin Phillips.

“It was disappointing because it comes late and when it comes late in a game it's always hard to take,” admitted Pulis.

“I thought we were fantastic first half, I thought our midfield players were top drawer. (John Obi) Mikel was the best player on the pitch by a mile for me.

Middlesbrough are presently fifth on the log with 51 points while Leeds United are still leading the pack in the Championship with 58 points from 31 games
