He is worth several millions of dollars. He lives in a mansion in Magodo area of Lagos.

He also owns several real estate assets within and outside Nigeria.

Many Nigerians before his arrest may envy him, as is undoubtedly a billionnaire, but his business is kidnapping people for ransom.

Meet Chukwudi Dumeme Onuamadike, aka, Evans, Nigeria’s arguably richest kidnapper.

The highest he has collected from his victim is $1 million.

Evans is no regular kidnapper. To even make his business stand out, he chose to only collect his ransom in dollars.

But Evans has been arrested by police in Lagos on Saturday.

While being paraded at Police Command in Ikeja on Sunday, Evans told reporters that he started the business of kidnapping in 2015, after he left his spare parts business.

He claimed that he lost 20 million Naira to customs officers, which made him to leave his trade.

But luck ran out on him and he got arrested in his mansion in Magodo area of the state on Saturday.

You see, Evans had been quite successful in his new trade that he wasn’t sure of how many people he had kidnapped.

But he could still recollect the golden moment he collected one million dollars as ransom, the highest so far, before his arrest.

He told the police that he works with two groups - a team that moves with him to kidnap his victims and another team that he hands over to that takes the victim to their hideout.

“Kinsley introduced me to kidnap, but I usually get my ammunition from one Chinedu and Ehis whom I met at Ago-Iwoye. I also do drug business that enabled me to buy my property,” Evans confessed.

The Force PPRO, Jimoh Moshood said that the suspect had collected billions of naira from his victims and had property in and outside the country.

He said that Evans was declared wanted in 2013, following a kidnap attempt that was foiled by the police.

Moshood said further investigation into his activities were ongoing.
