The National Union Road Transport Workers leader, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo is battling for life at an undisclosed hospital after he was attacked.

He was stabbed twice in the neck during the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Ikeja on Tuesday.

Hoodlums suspected to be members of the NURTW invaded the Skypower Ground, venue of the rally with guns, daggers and other dangerous weapons, and engaged one another in a bloody factional fight.

Though the identity of  Oluomo’s attackers have not been verified, there are feelers that they could be men of the Kunle Poly’s faction of the NURTW.

MC Oluomo, who was beside Sego, another prominent member of the union, when he was stabbed was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment .

The National chairman of the union, Tajudeen Agbede, was among those who rushed MC Oluomo who was in a pool of blood to the hospital.

The situation sent panic across the campaign ground as party members ran in different directions to avoid being hit by bullets being fired.

It was learned that security operatives had a hectic time controlling the situation and engaging the hoodlums.

Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, who was making a speech, had to leave the stage abruptly and was escorted out of the venue with his deputy, Idiat Adebule, the APC governorship candidate, Babajide Sanwoolu, and other prominent members of the party.

At least two persons were feared killed, while several others, including journalists, sustained different degree of injuries.
