Young French midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has won his first Player of the Month award by topping Arsenal’s August poll.

The 19-year-old impressed during his debut month in north London, becoming only the fourth teenager to start each of the first four Premier League matches after Nicolas Anelka, Cesc Fabregas and Johan Djourou.

Guendouzi received 68 per cent of the votes cast, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Petr Cech finishing second and third place respectively.

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s strike against Chelsea was voted as the club’s August Goal of the Month.

The Armenia international rifled a low, first-time effort past Kepa Arrizabalaga to score Arsenal’s first Premier League goal under Unai Emery.

Mkhitaryan’s strike was the overwhelming winner with 61% of the votes cast, with Alex Iwobi's finish from the same game in second place, and Nacho Monreal's finish against West Ham United in third.
