The last place one would expect a car accident is inside a restaurant.

The Daily Mail reports that a car crashed into a restaurant in New York, injuring multiple people and leaving three in critical condition.

The car crashed into Enzo's Ristorante in the Westchester County village of Mamaroneck just after 8pm on Sunday.

Mamaroneck Mayor Tom Murphy said multiple diners inside the restaurant were hurt and taken to a hospital.

'It's a popular restaurant, people inside were hurt and taken to the hospital,' he told The Journal News.

Their conditions were not immediately known.

Photos from the scene show a wide section of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the front of the restaurant smashed in.

Eyewitnesses said the red car was still inside the restaurant as of 9pm on Sunday night.

The accident remains under investigation.
