The nature of his crime appears to have outweighed the forgiveness of the Niger state government.

Dissatisfied with the one-month jail sentence for a man who raped a boy, state authorities are demanding that the convict be dragged back to court.

Nuhu Musa, 37, was sentenced to 1 month imprisonment with an option of 30,000 Naira  fine by a Kontagora Magistrates’ Court for kidnap and rape of a minor.

The incident occurred in Kontagora Local Government Area.

Musa’s jail term ended on Tuesday but the Public Relations Officer of the Niger Police Command, DSP Bala Elkana, said in Minna that Musa would be  re-arraigned for murder, rape and kidnap.

Elkana said Musa’s sentence was not equal with his offences, adding that the child eventually died from injuries sustained internally.

Director-General of the Niger State Child Rights Protection Agency, Hajiya Mariam Kolo, said the child was abducted alongside four other boys.
