Man Seeks Reconciliation But Gets Divorce In Sharia Court
It has been a year since Jamilu Musa’s wife left him for her parent’s house with their three-year-old daughter and had refused to return.
The 40-year-old man is not finding his wifeless condition easy. He wants her back and has approached a Sharia Court sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna to assist him get back Jamila Abdulrahman 32.
But the embattled wife, who resides at Zaria road told the court that she left the house due to lack of care from her husband and ill treatment from her in-laws.
“We have been married for seven years and blessed with two children, but I have never found peace because of his relatives.
“In fact, there was a time one of his brother slapped me and my husband didn’t say anything”, she lamented.
The case was first heard on December 20, 2018, where the two parties were given a chance to reconcile out of court.
Musa however, reported to court that they couldn’t reconcile because his father in-law warned him not to step into his house.
The defendant also maintained her stand, saying she was no longer interested in the marriage and demanded for divorce.
The Judge, Musa Sa’ad-Goma after listening to both parties asked the couple if they could consider the two children they have and reconcile, but there was no consensus.
The complainant later made one pronouncement of divorce to the wife and the court confirmed the divorce.
“From today, Jamila Abdulrahman is no longer a wife to Jamilu Musa based on the divorce pronouncement he made.
“She shall observe the three months waiting period as prescribed by the Sharia.
“If the two decide to be together in future, they are allowed since it’s only one divorce”, the Judge ruled.
