The family lost both men on the same day.

According to reports, a wrangle started between the brothers, Joseph Abifari and Ayo Abifarin over a minor issue.

Joseph hit Ayo with a huge stick on the head. Ayo died on his way to the hospital.

Joseph later took his own life by cutting himself with a knife.

The incident happened in the sleepy town of Iresi, in Osun State on Saturday.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Osun, Folashade Odoro, who confirmed the incident said Joseph was found in the pool of his blood when detectives visited his compound to effect an arrest.

Odoro explained that the two corpses had been deposited at the Osun State General Hospital, Asubiaro for autopsy.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adeola Fimihan has ordered for a full scale investigation to unravel the mystery.

Cases of suicide are still on the rise in Nigeria with at least one suspected case recorded each week.
