A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State has jailed a man for one year for impersonating Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye.

He was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The suspect Ekoh Noel, was arraigned on a one count charge of obtaining by false pretense. He was said to have represented himself as Mike Ezuruonye on Facebook to defraud his victims.

The EFCC who investigated the matter discovered that Ekoh gained 12.4 million Naira through the scam.


Upon his arraignment, the convict pleaded guilty to the charge, so Justice P. I. Ajoku convicted and sentenced the defendant to one year imprisonment.

In order to alert the public of this development, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission posted a tweet on their handle.

“Ekoh Noel, who impersonated ace Nollywood actor, Mike Ezuruonye on Facebook to fraudulently obtain N12.4million from his victim has been sentenced to one year in prison by Justice P.I. Ajoku of a Fed High Court, Benin, Edo State."
