All that the dead request from the living is a burial, but how do you judge a man who would not even let the dead have a befitting resting place?

Olalekan Sulaiman collected the sum of four million naira from Mr Babatunde Adeparusi on the pretext of constructing a graveyard for him in Ado-Ekiti.

But contrary to his promise, he converted the money for his personal use.

The 34-year-old man, on Tuesday appeared before a Yaba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos on a two-count charge of obtaining under false pretences and unlawful conversion.

The prosecutor, ASP R. Umuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 29, 2017, at Magodo GRA, Lagos.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Chief Magistrate, Mr P.A. Ojo, admitted him to a N500,000 bail, with two sureties in like sum.

Ojo ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused.

He adjourned the case until April 30 for substantive hearing.
