'One man's meat is another man's poison' is the best way to describe a situation where Pork has put asunder in a marriage.

It is totally a taboo for Kolawole Adegoke's mother to find Pork in her meal, but his wife could not adhere to this.

The man has divorced his wife for cooking pork for his mother.

He is a fashion designer but he could not fashion out why his wife had used the meat for his mother.

Adegoke filed for divorce after discovering that his wife, Adeyinka, cooked pork for his mother who is a Muslim.

Eating of pork is forbidden in Islam.

In the case heard at an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State, Adegoke said his wife intentionally bought and cooked pork for his mother.

"Her action is disgusting; I see no reason for her to cook such meat which is forbidden for my mother, a Muslim.

“The court should separate us to avoid unpleasant occurrence because I can no longer stay with a woman who perpetrates such a thing.“

He said that Adeyinka lacked respect for him and was being controlled by her parents.

The President of the court, Mukaila Balogun, in his ruling on Friday noted that the respondent had failed to honour the summons of the court.

Balogun held that the court would dissolve the union based on the evidence given by the plaintiff.

“Parties cease to be husband and wife henceforth, and the court registrar should serve the defendant a copy of the judgment,” he ruled.

Muslims are forbidden from eating pork. Muslims simply do not eat it or any other pork products because God has prohibited it.

A portion of the Quran reads: "He has forbidden you only dead animals, and blood, and the swine, and that which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for other than God". (Quran Chapter 2, Verse 173).
