A 22-year-old, who allegedly broke into a secondary school in Ekiti State to steal has been arrested.

Sham Unu made his way through Oye-Egbo Secondary School, Oye-Ekiti  on December 23rd to steal some aluminum roofing sheets.

The sheets were being used for the ongoing rehabilitation of some dilapidated buildings in the school.

Schools in the state like others across the country are on Christmas and New Year break.

Bounce News gathered that Unu fled the area on sighting the school security man who gave him a chase and apprehended him with some of the stolen sheets.

He was later handed over to the Police for prosecution.

He appeared before the Ilupeju Chief Magistrate Court Court on Thursday.

He was charged with two counts of stealing and burglary.

Police Prosecutor Adeniyi Famodimu told the court that the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing brought against him.

Chief Magistrate Joseph Ayodele granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Hearing for the case has been fixed for January 7, 2019.
