He attended church service in the morning, but while it was ongoing, Darlington was strategising on how he would come back at night to steal the church’s offering.

Ebonyi State born Darlington Emeka probably had it all figured out until he broke the offering box and found no money.

The incident happened at Christ Image Assembly church located at Abraham Akintola Street, Onipetesi Estate in Mangoro Area of Lagos.

He broke into the church after he monitored the church service where a substantial amount of money was realized and kept in the offering box.

He went at night, broke the church keys and moved to the box but did not find any money there as it had been moved.

It was while he was inside the church contemplating on his next move that the church security guards saw him.

He was arrested, beaten mercilessly and handed over to the police at Shasha division.

At the station, he confessed that he broke into the church in an attempt to steal money but when he went in, he did not find the money where it was kept during the day.

He was charged before Ejigbo Magistrates court with a felony.

The prosecutor, Nathaniel Simon asked the court for adjournment to enable him to present the fact for sentence.

The presiding Magistrate, Akeem Fashola ordered that Emeka should be remanded in prison custody.

The case was adjourned pending when the facts are presented.
