Man Bags 2 Years' Imprisonment For Break-In, Intent To Steal
A 28-year-old unemployed man, Abdulramon Akanbi, who allegedly broke into a pharmacy with an intent to steal is to spend the next 24 months behind bars.
He appeared before an Ojo Magistrate Court in Lagos State on Friday where the prosecutor explained what transpired.
Insp. Uche Simeon said that the accused tried to rob a pharmacy belonging to Mr Edwin Ikwuegbu.
“He entered the pharmacy illegally through the ceiling and was caught in the act by the landlord and some other residents.
“The landlord, who lives in the same building where the pharmacy is situated, heard some strange sound coming from the ceiling; he then alerted some other residents.
“They called the police who arrested the accused,” he said.
Magistrate A. A. Adesanya gave the verdict after Akanbi pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of burglary and attempt to steal.
Adesanya held that the convict should serve out his jail- term with hard labour.
