While the Osun election was getting set to kick-off, a group of four young men in nearby Ibadan were stealing yam.

At about 5am on Saturday, September 22 at Beere area of Ibadan, the quartet allegedly stole 120 tubers of yam amounting to 40,000 naira belonging to Oladeni Kazeem and Salami Jamiu..

The suspects are Biodun Ayodele (20years), Adebayo Micheal (19years), Lukman Mohammed (20years), Arisekola Ridwan (20years) and Kayode Suleiman(45years) and others at large.

According to the charge read against them at the Grade A Customary Court Mapo on Tuesday, they conspired together to commit felony with stealing which is an offence in the Nigerian constitution.

A 45-year-old man, Kayode Suleiman who is the eldest among the suspects, received the tubers of yam from them despite knowing that they were stolen items and this offence is punishable under the Nigerian Constitution.

They were all brought to book by the prosecutor Sgt. Ayeni Ayodele and were put in custody.

The sum of 150,000 naira and a surety each was demanded for their bail by Esq. Imoleayo Akinrodoye.

They pleaded not guilty to the crime and their lawyer, Lasisi Taiwo said he was doing everything possible to ensure his clients get bailed.

The case was adjourned for further clarification and for the sergeant in charge of the case to present the yams in court.
