LMC Suspends 2018/19 NPFL Kick-off Indefinitely
Organisers of the Nigeria Professional League, League Management Company (LMC) have suspended the kick off of 2018/19 NPFL season indefinitely.
The new season of the premier league was scheduled for December 1, after the 2017/18 season ended abruptly.
The postponement came from the backdrop of the inability of the Nigeria National League management to come up with promoted teams barely few days to earlier suggested kick off date of the elite league.
In a message from the LMC to club managers, the Congress which supposed to hold on Tuesday in Asaba was suspended without a new date.
However, the club managers in the NNL who are supposed to meet in Abuja next week are pushing and clamouring for eight teams to gain promotion to the NPFL as against the agreed four teams from NNL to NPFL.
From the agreed program, 8 NNL teams; first two from each four abridged groups were expected to play a Super 8 in the two Conferences round, where the top two from each would gain promotion to the NPFL.
The NNL managers are pushing that the Premier League be 28 teams, while 12 will be relegated at the end of each season.
