Contrary to widespread reports that former AC Milan and Chelsea ace, George Weah has emerged as the new President of Liberia, it has been gathered that a run-off will be required to see who takes over for the outgoing Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

According to official results from National Elections Commission Of Liberia, NEC, Weah is actually trailing his fierce rival, BOAKAI JOSEPH NYUMA but neither the former World Footballer Of The Year nor his rival have the required 50% mandatory; thus needing a run-off.

Weah, a senator, is standing for the Congress for Democratic Change party.

The 54-year old is one of the frontrunners and he told voters in his final campaign message before they went to the polls: 'We are one and together we must succeed in writing a new chapter in our country's glorious history.
