Let There Be Water! NGO Comes To Gombe Community’s Rescue
The residents of Gode Community in Dukku LGA of Gombe state are presently the happiest people on earth.
The community hitherto had been experiencing water shortage.
Their hope was however restored when a Non-Governmental Organisation, Hope Spring International came on board.
The organization presented a cheque of 1 million Naira to aid in solving their water problem.
Hope Spring International has assisted 6 communities across Gombe state with counterpart funding for projects needed by the people in the communities.
The NGO's Director of operation Ramby Ibrahim Ayala told Bounce News that the NGO assists based on the immediate needs of the community.
Ramby said "Our desire is to assist humanity, we have provided communities with water, some with hospital, food stuffs, schools and even health care intervention to individuals in need of medical assistance in Nigeria, Niger with the bulk of our projects in Chad Republic".
“Gode community in Dukku LGA is the latest community to benefit from such assistance.”
Malam Abubakar, a resident could not hide his happiness at the gesture.
He said, “The joy this has brought to us cannot be measured as days of searching endlessly for drinkable water is over.”
He added that "We got the approval for the project from Gombe State Agency For Environmental Development but could not raise N1m being 10 percent of the money for the project".
Ahmed Bappayo, the village head of Goringo said they never expect such assistance from the NGO.
Bappayo said the community is happy because the assistance would end the 30yrs of suffering and searching for drinking water and maternity in the community.
"We used to drink water from this stagnant earth dam but this will surely be a thing of the past with this development,” he said.
