Former English Premier League champions, Leicester City are hoping to finalise the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City this week.

The Nigerian striker has been surplus to requirement at the Etihad stadium since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in January.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare is making striker Islam Slimani available, and Iheanacho’s deal could be sealed faster.

A proposed £25million deal is close after talks between the clubs on Friday for the 20-year-old.

Iheanacho's impending arrival will see Leicester listen to offers for Algerian forward Slimani, 29, who cost the club a record £29million from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

A return on loan to Sporting is possible for Slimani, but the Foxes ideally want to recoup a large chunk of the big fee they paid for him.

Slimani only scored eight goals in 29 appearances for the club and was unable to dislodge Jamie Vardy as Leicester's leading frontman.
