Some government workers in Cross River State were locked out on Wednesday on the orders of the state governor, Ben Ayade.

Secretary to the State Government, Tina Agbor and some other top officials were among those prohibited from entering government house.

The governor had arrived office before 7:30am  only to find the entrance gate was locked.

When the gate was eventually opened for him, he ordered that all entrances be locked and no one be allowed to come in.

The deputy governor Professor Ivara Esu arrived a few minutes past 8:00am and was allowed in.

Other civil servants, security aides and other appointees were kept out by stern looking security operatives in the Governor’s convoy.

The gates were ,however, opened at 9:00 AM with some staff allowed to go in while those who came after were made to spend the entire day outside.
