LASU Student Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon, Rescued
A student of the Lagos State University (LASU) has jumped into the Lagos Lagoon in a bid to commit suicide.
The incident, which happened on Monday, occurred at the Falomo Bridge.
The student’s name was given as Kingsley Gabriel.
The student was said to have been quickly rescued from drowning in the water by Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) officials who responded swiftly to the incident.
Confirming the act, General Manager of LASWA, Damilola Emmanuel, lamented that the act was becoming worrisome on Lagos waterways.
Gabriel was taken to the Falomo Police Station after he was rescued by officials.
It was not clear why Gabriel decided to end his life by jumping into the water.
Recently, a woman was said to have jumped into the Lagoon from Third Mainland Bridge but that claim has not been proven by self acclaimed eyewitnesses and state authorities have found no corpse.
