Have you heard about the so-called Awawa Boys? They are the latest cult group giving Lagos police a lot of work to do.

In Agege area of Lagos and its environs, the ‘Awawa boys’ reign supreme and have managed to make themselves highly feared in less than one year of their emergence.

?Their trade mark is their large number. How they managed to grow so large so quickly may not be unconnected to their skills.

They have managed to use entertainment as a tool for attraction, they consume a lot of drugs, they get the girls both by force and cash and perpetrate all forms of crimes that put money in their pocket.

With peer pressure, these things will easily entice young unguided persons.

They are now so many that police would usually need a fleet of vehicles to arrest them, but the police in Lagos would not be deterred.

A total of 37 of suspected member of the Awawa Boys were arrested on Friday November 2, 2018 and are currently being investigated.

Residents of Agege, Agidingbi, Ogba, Ifako Ijaiye, Iyana-Ipaja and Abule Egba have been falling victim of their robberies, rape and other attacks.

But it is believed that this onslaught by the police would ensure that Lagos never finds itself in another Badoo situation again.
