Lagos is the home of football, many fans will argue and that was proven right over the weekend when a selected team of players born and raised in Lagos tagged "Team Lagos" secured a 3-2 win over "Team Nigeria" which had a couple of Super Eagles players in their roster.

China-based Obafemi Martins was the captain for Team Lagos and the former Inter Milan and Newcastle United forward led by example scoring to help the team to victory over the star-studded Team Nigeria side captained by Ogenyi Oanzi.

Sunday's game was a commemorative match to mark Lagos' 50th anniversary and it was put together by the Senior Special Assistant on Sports to Governor Akinwunmi Amobode, Anthony Adeyinka.

Mr. Adeyinka said he was very pleased to see the fan turnout and also have a good number of the Super Eagles players in Lagos to star in the commemorative game.

Some of the players that wowed the fans in Lagos include Kayode Olanrewaju, Ogenyi Onazi, Dele Alampasu, Sylvester Igboun, Gbolahan Salami, Elderson Echiejile, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Obafemi Martins among others.
