The second term ambition of Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has got a boost.

Leaders and members of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos West Senatorial District have expressed their support for the state governor to contest for a second term in office.

The party members, led by the senatorial leader, Rabiu Oluwa, said at an occasion held on Thursday to declare their support for the governor that with the level of development during his tenure, the governor had lived up to expectation and so he deserved a second term.

He said, “He (Ambode) has taken up the task of administration where Bola Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola (SAN) left it. During Fashola’s time, tax became inevitable and its non-payment became a sin. We have now adjusted to that. We can see the achievements of Ambode, who has turned Lagos into a huge construction site; at Ojodu Berger, Meiran, Oworonsoki, Oshodi, Agege and other places.

“We are here to give support to our governor. When Tinubu and Fashola were there, we thought there will be no better governor. Ambode has proved us wrong. It is a signal that after his second term, anybody coming to be governor must sit tight.

“Everybody in Lagos is endorsing Ambode. Even Femi Otedola, who is not a politician, has endorsed him. Today, we have come from 28 local governments making up the Lagos West to endorse him. We don’t want disunity in our party. Although the constitution says anybody is free to contest, we believe that Ambode is competent and good for a second term.”

Present at the occasion were party chieftains in the state, including the chairman, Olawale Ajomale; vice-chairman (Lagos West), Funso Ologunde; the Women Leader, Kemi Nelson and former deputy governor, Sarah Sosan.
