Lagos To Re-Enforce Fashola’s Okada Law
If you are one of those who think the Lagos okada restriction has gone with Fashola, then you have to think again.
Governor Ambode is bringing it back stronger.
Lagos state has resolved to vigorously enforce the state traffic law prohibiting the operation of commercial motorcyclists popularly known as okada riders in certain routes across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal said that the enforcement would take place immediately after another round of public enlightenment on the dangers and security implications of plying okada on restricted routes.
The decision was reached at the monthly Security Council Meeting chaired by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.
One of the outcomes of the meeting was also the establishment of the Joint Tactic Squad which comprises different security agencies to secure schools in the outskirts, riverine and other vulnerable areas.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, also told newsmen that the Council deliberated on the recent restriction order on inter-state buses along Ikorodu Road.
He explained that all the identified setbacks have been considered and were being addressed.
