Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said this at a news conference in Lagos.
Owoseni said that a suspect, who attempted to swindle the parents of the students by asking that they should bring ransom to Abeokuta, was arrested. He is now cooling off in police custody.
The police chief was happy and he praised the South West Governors for showing that they are committed to fighting crime in the region.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was not left out in the celebration of the successful rescue operations. Although, he was in faraway Switzerland talking business, he delivered a hearty congratulatory message to security operatives and parents at the conference through the deputy governor, Oluranti Adebule.
He gave an assurance that the government would utilise the holiday to reinforce security in all schools in the State, especially in the suburb and riverine areas to prevent a re-occurrence.
