Lagos' Primary Election Shifted After Sanwo-Olu Got More Endorsements
The second term drive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, has received a major setback, with his rival Babajide Sanwo-Olu, receiving more endorsements.
Lagos's residents will also have to wait for a future date to know who the candidate of the All Progressives Congress will be, as the primary election has been shifted again.
It may be the last straw that will break the camel's back and truncate Governor Ambode's dream of a second term.
Members of the party had gathered at the party's secretariat at Acme Road in Ikeja to pick who will bear the flag of the party in the 2019 governorship election.
Top members of the party had met with the National Leader of the APC, Senator Bola Tinubu, before coming to the venue of the proposed primaries.
However, they did not bring good news.
When it was time to address the party members at the venue, Chairman of the Governor's Advisory Council, Senator Antony Adefuye, read out some decisions reached at the meeting with Senator Tinubu.
First, was that the primary election for the governorship position has been shifted to Monday October 1, which is Nigeria's Independence Day.
"Dr Obafemi Hamzat, stepped down and endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
"The GAC [Governor's Advisory Council] and other major stakeholders have endorsed Babajide Sanwo-Olu," Senator Adefuye, said reading from a draft of the meeting.

The decisions whipped up anger and mixed reactions from the supporters of Mr Ambode.
As they booed the leaders of the party, anger and disappointment could be felt in their voices.
In a hurry, the party leaders left.
The booing had become intense, with Governor Ambode's supporters throwing stones and bottles of water at them.
The only option that may be before Governor Ambode now is dumping the APC for ADP, but there is also trouble in the lurking.
He risks impeachment.
There are unconfirmed reports that 36 members of the State House of Assembly have already agreed to impeach him if he defects.
His fate will be decided on October 1.
