Saturday, September 29, 2018 is fast approaching and the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the state is the main talk on the lips of many.

It is not only party delegates that are preparing for the election, the Nigerian Police is also getting set to ensure security is not breached.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal, assured Lagosians of the police readiness to provide watertight security during the primaries which will hold across the local government areas of the state.

The CP urged party faithful to be law-abiding and steer clear from any conduct that can jeopardize free, fair and peaceful conduct of the election. He also advised the aspirants to talk to their supporters to shun violence as any person caught engaging in acts capable of constituting a breach of the public peace will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

To ensure adequate security across the state during the exercise, the CP will hold meetings with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of departments to ensure that due diligence is followed during the primaries.

He said the command, as usual, will refrain from any partisan practice, and urged its men and officers not to compromise the credible conduct of the exercise.

The CP stressed that severe punishment will be meted out to any policeman who meddles in the election as he further enjoined members of the public to promptly alert the police to any act that may threaten the credible and peaceful conduct of the exercise.
