Lagos Police Bans Pasting of Posters, Banners, Billboards At Odd Hours
Complaints of indiscriminate removal and destruction of campaign posters and billboards of political parties and their candidates by unknown persons is disturbing the police from their primary job.
The office of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, is particularly tired of the flood of complaints from politicians.
It was alleged that those involved in this act usually operate at odd hours, particularly between 1Am and 4AM.
The police believe that the trend if not reversed, may lead to break down of law and order with its attendant consequences.
The Police PRO in a statement on Monday revealed that the Lagos Police Command has duly consulted with relevant stakeholders and have made their decision on the matter.
“Pasting of campaign posters/billboards and other advertisements, should be done during the day time, between the hours of 0600hrs and 1800hrs only.
“All political parties/candidates to approach LASAA for guidelines and approvals of their adverts.
“LASAA officials to be accompanied by policemen when carrying out their enforcement/compliance duty.
“All political parties/candidates/agents are to be guided by the contents of this press release in order not to run afoul of the law.”
So, dear Lagosians, be guided.
