Residents of Fagbile Estate in Isheri Ijegun Road, a suburb of Lagos recently fled their homes on Thursday because of a broken petroleum pipe which spilled its content in the area.

They feared that the broken pipe, if not repaired, could lead to a repeat of the Ijegun fire of years ago.

The police have now come out to assure Lagosians that authorities concerned would prevent such disaster.

The Police PRO noted first that “before the news went viral on the social media, it had already drawn the attention of the NNPC officials, the Fire service, LASEMA” and other agencies.

Secondly, police undercover operatives attached to Area M- Idimu have now arrested six suspected pipeline vandals around 1:30AM on Friday, April 6 the scene.

The six male suspects are, Jimoh Shola, 23 years, Wasiu Adebayo, 25 years, Sanni Shago, Alamu Garuba 22 years, Jonathan Okiki 35 years and Taoreed Saula 33 year. 

“They are currently undergoing interrogation at the Command's Headquarters Ikeja and would be charged to court at conclusion of the investigation,” he said.
