As high-wired intrigue continues to play out in Lagos State over the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode’s re-election bid, no fewer than 36 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have endorsed his rival, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The decision of the lawmakers was contained in a statement Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Strategy, Hon. Funmilayo Tejuosho, issued on Saturday.

The statement said the decision was taken at a parliamentary meeting of the lawmakers which took place at Lateef Jakande auditorium of the House on Saturday, two days before the governorship primaries of the party.

It added that the meeting was chaired by Mudashiru Obasa, the House Speaker, and the lawmakers duly signed the statement announcing the decision.

From the development, there is a strong indication that Ambode second term might soon be lost in the dust bin of history.

The party's Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) had on Saturday endorsed Sanwo-Olu.

Ambode’s travails had attracted the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari; former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba; Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF); and the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF).
