If you own a building in Lagos and it is yet to meet the standard Lagos State Government set for structures in the state, you are sitting on a long thing.

You have barely 14 days to comply or risk losing your property to the state government.

This is according to the letter released by the Lagos State Building Control Agency LASBCA and obtained by Bounce News.

The letter reads in part: "The State Government is desirous of updating her database on physical development in order to match up with necessary infrastructural developments to achieve sustainable and well planned environment. This exercise would also ascertain the structural stability of all existing buildings towards the prevention of building collapse in the state.

"In the light of the above and pursuant to section 27 and 47 (d) of the Lagos State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law 2010 and previous enactments on the subject, you are requested to submit a copy of your building plan approval for further necessary action.


"In the event that your property is not covered by a Planning Permit/Building Plan Approval, kindly commence process of regularisation in line with the recent publication by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development in various newspapers.

"Owners/Developers of structures who have changed use or built beyond the approved limit are also enjoined to commence the process of regularisation for the grant of Planning Permit or condonation with the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA).

"In view of the foregoing as partners in activities geared towards a Lagos State Environment that is sustainable, I wish to seek your cooperation. Therefore, I urge you to take advantage of the Amnesty Period and regularise your building within 14 days of the service of this letter, failing which the Agency shall invoke relevant provisions of the Laws of Lagos State."
