Labour Strike: (PHOTOS) Banks, Schools, Civil Service Grounded In Gombe
Gombe state is not left out of the nationwide strike declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
A visit by Bounce News showed both full and partial compliance by public schools, banks, federal and state establishments.
Most public schools and banks were shut down as customers were turned back by security personnel stationed at the banks.
The Nigeria Labour Congress had directed all its members and affiliate unions to commence a nationwide strike on Thursday (today).
The organised labour held a meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Abuja on Wednesday, which did not produce the expected outcome.
It is expected that the two parties will be back on the discussion table soonest as the NLC is chiefly haggling for a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
