The Civil Servants in Ilorin on Thursday complied fully with the warning strike called by  leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress NLC, the Trade Union Congress TUC and the United Labour Congress ULC.

The strike was embarked upon as the meeting between the Federal government held with the union leaders ended in a deadlock.

The union leadership called on all workers to proceed on a warning strike due to the refusal of the Federal Government to reconvene the meeting of the tripartite National Minimum wage committee to enable it to conclude its work according to President of NLC Comrade Ayuba Wabba.

Kwara strike

There was a total compliance of the strike in Kwara state as every government offices Bounce News visited was under lock and key inclusive of parastatals and MDAs, Kwara state Judiciary court of Justice, cottage hospital, Radio Kwara office, MTN office, office of the Head of Service.

The Federal Secretariat were all under lock and key but there was skeletal commercial activities in some banks in the state.

The Trade Union Congress TUC Chairman in the state, Kolawole Olumoh while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin said: "none of our members in Kwara is working today. The office of the Head of Service is also under lock and key.

"We picketed some areas. There were some offices that we met the workers already in the office. We had to picket them and send them out and blocked the premises.

"The offices we picketed include NYSC office, the complex housing BoI office. We sent them away. We also met some pupils and teachers on some schools, we asked the teachers to leave and we ensured that the parents picked up their children."

He added that the strike is an indefinite one until FG and state govt, most importantly the tripartite committee is allowed to seat and do what the committee had been established to do.

Kwara strike

"My advise to the workers is that they should maintain their calmness in their various houses."

"As it is now, there is no work until we have something fruitful from the government that will give us assurance that they are ready and willing to ensure that we have a new minimum wage in place. he said.
