Lionel Messi had the upper hand against Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo during the last World Cup in Russia.

Omeruo would have had the chance to face Messi again on Wednesday in the La Liga and possibly get revenge.

But he has been ruled out of the midweek tie between his club Leganes and Barcelona.

Maurio Pellegrino, who is the gaffer for Leganes, in his pre-match press conference confirmed that Arnáiz, Szymanowski, Ezequiel and Omeruo are all out of the Barcelona while he is said Recio is doubtful to face the Catalan giants.

Since joining the modest Spanish club, Omeruo is yet to feature for Leganes; making it to the bench just twice so far.

Still undefeated and league-leading Barça face their second opponent in a six-day span when they travel to the Madrid metropolitan area to take on Leganés in midweek La Liga action.
