Lionel Messi will not feature for Barcelona in their LaLiga clash with Brown Ideye's Malaga on Saturday due to "personal reasons".

Messi has been replaced in the squad for the clash at La Rosaleda - which pits the league leaders against the bottom side - by centre-back Yerry Mina.

It will be the first La Liga match the 30-year-old has missed this season

Of recent, the Argentine star was in action against Victor Moses and his Chelsea teammates in the Champions League and then Oghenekaro Etebo in the La Liga clash against Las Palmas.

Interestingly both games ended in stalemate even though Messi scored in the two games.

Barcelona visit La Rosaleda this Saturday in week 28 of La Liga and they face a Malaga side currently bottom the table and are in desperate need of points, something that has not escaped the attention of Blaugrana boss Ernesto Valverde.

"The teams in the bottom part of the table are the ones who pick up most points in the final part of the season.

"Málaga are at a stage where they really need points and this game is another chance for them." said the Barca coach of Ideye’s team who are currently at the foot of the table with just 13 points from 27 games.

Barca on their part are top of the table with an eight-point advantage over second-placed Atlético.
