Former governor of Kano State Rabiu Kwankwaso has finally shelved his planned visit to the state.

Kwankwaso has insisted on visiting the state on January 30, 2018 after the Kano Command of the Nigeria Police has advised him to shelve the arrangement, warning that it might lead to chaos.

On the eve of his planned controversial visit, Senator Kwankwaso said he is calling off the visit after wide consultations.

"I have shelved my visit to Kano to avoid political clash in the state following series of advices I have received from well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad.

"In view of this and after lengthy consultations with well-meaning Nigerians home and abroad, we painfully have decided to shelve the scheduled visit at the moment.”

Kwankwaso had planned to visit the state with seven camera drones, three international media outfits and, a host of other top national and international friends of his.

The proposed visit by the lawmaker, who is a known critic of the state governor, Umar Ganduje, has generated controversy in the state with accusations and counter-allegations emanating from the different political divides within the APC.
