Suspected kidnappers on Wednesday killed two policemen and abducted two foreign nationals on Kwoi-Jere road in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the abduction occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Before they were abducted, the victims, whose identities were not revealed, had visited Kafanchan and Kaura, before they were ambushed on their way back.

Competent police sources say the two policemen killed were escorting the two foreign nationals when they were ambushed.

“Two policemen were killed in the ambush while an American and a Canadian were abducted along Kwoi-Jere road, off Kaduna-Abuja highway.

“It's a sad development but I am sure the Police would get to the root of the matter,’’ the source added.

The Kaduna State government and the state police command has not given an official statement on the incident.

Report on the abduction of the foreign nationals is coming on the same day the Senate raised concerns that the increasing insecurity in the country would further dampen investor's confidence in the nation that is trying to grow its economy after it slipped out of recession last year. 

Kidnapping and herdsmen attacks seem to have replaced the attacks by Boko Haram terrorist group which has been largely curtailed.
