Kidnappers Demand N30m For Release Of Provost
Abductors of the kidnapped Provost of College of Health Technology in Taraba State, Mr. Fred Wayas are demanding N30 million as ransom for his release.
A family source told our reporter in a telephone interview that Wayas was abducted along Katsina Ala- Takum road on his way back from Asaba in Delta State on Saturday.
According to the source, Mr. Fred Wayas while traveling in an official car belonging to the College of Health Technology Takum, got missing and his phones went off until Monday afternoon when his abductors used his phone to call family members.
"Although they allowed him to call and talk to us before they collected the phone from him and asked us to pay the sum of N30 million before he would be released.
"The ransom according to them is for the release of the provost of the college and his driver.
"They promised to call back but up till now they have not called yet and the number is switched off."
The abduction of Mr. Fred Wayas is coming barely five months after the State House of Assembly Member representing Takum 1 constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Hosea Ibi was kidnaped, killed and thrown in a bush at Takum after payment of 80 million ransom.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba state, ASP. Mr. David Missal said the command was not aware of the issue, but his men would work on it, he said.
