The Nigeria Kickboxing Federation has cried to the public over shortage of funds to honour the World Championships holding in November in Hungary.

The Vice President of the Federation, Gospel Obolo is appealing to corporate Nigeria to extend financial support.

Obolo said Nigeria stands a chance to win medals at the world stage with adequate support and preparation.

"Our athletes are eager to put up a good performance at the world championship and they are preparing seriously for the event. We've already organised trials about three months ago in Lagos and hope to organise another one in two weeks’ time in Bayelsa State but we need sponsors to enable us have a full house in Hungary.

"Nigeria is ranked as the best kickboxing nation in Africa but paucity of funds made us in the past to send only a handful of athletes who always come back with medals and that is why we are appealing to government and corporate Nigeria to come to our aid," he said.
