Winner of the 2016 and 2017 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Abraham Kiptum, is dreaming of winning a third consecutive title when he joins other runners at the start of the 2017 edition on February 10, 2018.

Kiptum overhauled a tough field that included highly favoured compatriots Peter Kiplagat and Hosea Kipkembe to win the 2016 edition.

The Kenyan star made it a brace in 2017 by setting a new course record of 2 hours 15 minutes 20 seconds.

The IAAF Gold labeled marathoner said over the weekend, “Running in Lagos is a delight, and my two previous experiences were sweet. Apart from winning twice, I love the people. They are very warm and the course is beautiful.

"It is not hilly and is one of the best courses in the world", he enthused.

"Then the Lagos crowd loves the marathon. There are few places in the world where you will see over 50,000 people running a marathon. It will be a dream come true if I win thrice and break my own record’’, said Kiptum.

It is expected that over 100,000 runners will be part of the 2018 Lagos Marathon which now has a Bronze Label from the IAAF.
