Kaduna Violence Threatens Nigeria Volleyball League
The Nigeria Volleyball Premier League (NVBL) may be shifted away from troubled Kaduna State to the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja it has been gathered.
Though the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the NVBL have expressed optimism that law and order would be restored, they are still keeping their options open.
In a statement signed by the LOC Secretary General, Maikano Adamu, he said the federation is in touch with various security agencies.
He said machineries have been put in place to safeguard lives and property of the respective clubs.
Adamu said if there is any last minute change of venue, the LOC will move the league to Abuja.
He said, “I want to assure
he teams who qualified for the Premier League that the federation is doing everything in its power to have a hitch free league and the relevant authorities have been contacted.
“The curfew has been relaxed and most of the residents of Kaduna are now going to their respective business. The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kaduna chapter has also promised to support in the promotion of the League”.
He further said, “We want to specifically thank Kaduna state government led by Mallam Nasir El Rufai for his swift intervention of the Crisis and also permitting us to host the Nigeria Volleyball in the state. If you recall, the Kaduna state government also supported the federation in hosting the Savannah Conference of the Nigeria Volleyball League.
“If there are any last minute changes, the LOC will move the venue of the Volleyball League to Abuja”, he added.
The Nigeria Volleyball Premier League is originally scheduled to hold from November 1st to 10th 2018 at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Indoor Sports Hall, Kaduna.
