There were elections in the 23 local government areas of Kaduna State on Saturday, May 12th.

The turnout was impressive, and even the heavy rains could not stop voters from carrying out their civic duty.

In most of the polling units visited by Bounce News, voting materials arrived very late and voting also started late.

Most of the electorates expressed happiness with the electronic voting machine introduced expressing hope that the voting machine has helped to simplify the voting system towards ensuring a free, fair and credible election.

While addressing newsmen shortly after casting his vote, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai said the interest of his administration is to an set example that Nigerians can hold credible elections without distorting the process.

However, he expressed concern over the accreditation which was done manually instead of using the card reader. 

“The problem emanated from the refusal of INEC to allow the state electoral commission access to the card reader machines.

''After all our engagement with the INEC and assurance, at the last minute to the elections they said they could not provide us with the six thousand card readers that we needed because they are preparing for Osun and Ekiti elections and the 2019 elections” he said.
