Kachikwu’s Letter: Senate To Investigate Alleged Corruption In NNPC
The leaked letter of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, to President Muhammadu Buhari is not a thing to overlook and the Senate is taking the lead in this regard.
At Wednesday’s plenary, Dr. Kachikwu’s leaked letter was raised by a member of the upper chamber and the lawmakers deliberated on it.
After talks, the Senate set up an Ad-Hoc committee to conduct an investigation into allegations of corruption in the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation.
The committee led by Senator Aliyu Wammako will also look at the issues raised in the minister’s letter.
Dr. Kachikwu in the letter said he was tired of insubordination in his ministry, which had become humiliating.
He has been overlooked by the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru, who is now going solo in most of his activities.
After his letter leaked, the Minister expressed displeasure with the situation, saying it was supposed to be confidential and for the President's eyes alone.
