After an illustrious career in the La Liga and Premier League, Spain striker Fernando Torres has announced he will join Sagan Tosu in Japan's J League.

"Sagan Tosu were one of the first clubs to show interest in me, and I appreciate their insistence and how they convinced me with their sporting, personal and cultural project," he told a news conference.

Torres, 34, called time on his career with Atletico Madrid at the end of last season and had been linked with a move to Sydney FC and Chicago Fire.

Aside from playing for Atletico Madrid, Torres was also a hit at Liverpool before he went on to join Chelsea in a then record 50 Million Pounds transfer.
