The celebration in Kenya over their heroics at Asaba 2018 has been punctured following the shock death of former 400M hurdles world champion Nicholas Bett.

It was gathered that Bett died in a road crash in Nandi early on Wednesday, a day after returning from the African Senior Athletics Championships held in Asaba, Delta State

His family and county police commander Patrick Wambani confirmed the incident.

Bett made history in China after becoming the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in a short distance race at world stage.

He won the 400m hurdles finals at the 15th IAAF World Championships in Beijing in 47.79 world leading time, beating Russia’s Dennis Kudryavsten in 2015.
