President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in a closed-door meeting with national leaders of the All Progressives Congress Bola Tinubu.

The meeting is believed to centre around the fate of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State who is seeking a second term in office.

A source in the presidency who spoke with Daily Independent  said he is hopeful that the crisis between Tinubu and his estranged godson will be amicably resolved after the meeting with the President.

Mandate Movement, a group loyal to Tinubu, has endorsed Babajide Sanwoolu, a former commissioner in the state, as the next governor of the state.

At a meeting held after Sanwoolu picked his governorship nomination form, James Odunbaku, a prominent member of the group, said: Sanwoolu is the incoming governor of Lagos.

Odunbaku also accompanied Sanwoolu to the APC headquarters when he submitted his form on Wednesday.

As at Tuesday, all the 20 local government chairmen and 37 Local Council Development Areas’ (LCDAs) chairmen in Lagos have endorsed Sanwoolu, a former Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, who is now the Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation (LSDPC).
