Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe got into trouble for standing as surety for Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu who has since jumped bail.

However, about 6.32PM on Tuesday, he walked to freedom after spending four days in custody of the DSS.

Abaribe was granted administrative bail and was released to his lawyers led by Chukwuma Machukwu Ume.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, speaking at the premises of the DSS facility in Abuja, thanked Nigerians for standing up against the wrongs done to Nigerian democracy with the arrest of Senator Abaribe.

"The collective calls and demand for his release have shown the great spirit of Nigerians for justice", he said.

Abaribe had earlier in the day appeared before Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako to defend his decision to stand as one of the three sureties for Kanu, who has not been seen or heard of since September 2017 when the army invaded his home.

It was shortly after the court hearing that Abaribe's lawyers received a phone call from the DSS inviting them to come and process his release.
