Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, may be having a nice time in the United States of America.

But there is more that awaits the former Vice President when he returns to the country.

Atiku flew into America on Thursday, his first trip to the US in 12 years amidst controversy about his visa to the country.

With that now put aside, it has been revealed that Atiku has some questions to answer when he returns from his trip over his alleged role in the collapse of former Bank PHB.

While briefing State House correspondents on Friday, Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the decision to question Atiku is “following fresh evidence that he benefitted from slush funds that led to the collapse of Bank PHB.”

The government spokesperson said the government has in its position “paper trail which shows that he benefited from N156 million.”

“It started from an internal memo dated 13 January 2009 asking that a draft in favour of Atiku Abubakar of 156 million should be raised,” he said.

“We want him to stay in the US for as long as he wants but he has to explain to Nigerians when he returns,” he said.
